Wally Hinkamp of Hinkamp Jewelers in Fayetteville, North Carolina was elected to serve as President of the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Jewelers Association (NCJA).
Wally Hinkamp of Hinkamp Jewelers in Fayetteville, North Carolina was elected to serve as President of the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Jewelers Association (NCJA).  The formal announcement was made during the NCJA annual meeting at the Myrtle Beach Marriott Grande Dunes Resort.  Hinkamp, a graduate of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), has served as an officer of the NCJA Board of Directors for three years and has been a member of the association for over 30 years.  Hinkamp is no stranger to leadership; he also served as President of the Association in 1996.

“I am honored and pleased to once again have the opportunity to lead the North Carolina Jewelers Association,” said Hinkamp. “There are many exciting challenges ahead of us and I look forward to working with the membership to meet these challenges and strengthen this association.”

The annual meeting during which Hinkamp was elected was held in conjunction with the 2008 NCJA/SCJA annual Convention. NCJA and SCJA hosted 160 attendees for educational seminars, a golf tournament and a bingo tournament. The attendees also participated in the President’s Reception, Dinner and Dance.

Other officers elected at the meeting included Tim Hiatt of Ellis Jewelers, Lexington, NC to 1st Vice President, Stacey Sears of Holland’s Jewelers, Apex, NC to 2nd Vice President, Tracey Love of Love’s Jewelry, Brevard, NC to 3rd Vice President and Arnold Gibbs of Arnold’s Jewelry, Shelby, NC to Secretary/Treasurer.

Bill Thunberg of Alexander Zachary Jewelers, Mooresville, NC was recognized for his service as President of the Board of Directors for the past year.  A donation was made in his honor to Jewelers for Children.

New board members elected included Wally McKeel of McKeel’s Jewelers, Ahoskie, NC and Associate Director, Ralph Timmerman of Camelot Bridal.  Other board members continuing their service for a new three-year term included Jim Barbee of Barbee’s Jewelers, Rockingham, NC, Art Gray of Art’s Place, Lexington, NC and Oz Hefner of Oz’s Jewelers, Hickory, NC.

The North Carolina Jewelers Association (NCJA) represents over 300 retail jewelry stores statewide and is an affiliate of Jewelers of America.  Its mission is to provide access to meaningful educational programs and services, leadership in industry affairs and to advance high ethical, and educational standards in the trade.
