Online Video Marketing

If a picture is worth a thousand words, a video is worth a million!

It's probably no surprise to you that the Internet is one of the best places to promote your jewelry store. However, what may be surprising is the best place to do that online promotion is YouTube!

That's right. YouTube, that website with all the crazy videos posted by teenagers and humorous home movies of the grandchildren, and other video hosting websites like Yahoo Video and Veoh are some of the BEST places to advertise your store and the brands you carry.

Online Video, also known as IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) is exploding. Over 52% of all new material added to the Internet this year has been video content. This is one bandwagon that you need to jump on and do so quickly. You may never see an opportunity to advertise your business with such a quick return as online video is receiving right now. The online video explosion shows no signs of slowing. More than 10 billion videos are viewed online per month in the U.S. alone, and consumers are using online video ads to help make purchasing decisions.

YouTube is the fourth most popular web site in the world, following Yahoo, Google and MSN. Online videos are already extremely popular and they will only grow in the years to come. You don't have to pay a cent to put your video online! You don't need a web site or any special skills to make one! Viewers act faster and buy more after watching a video. With video, you develop an instant rapport with your audience and demonstrate any product, or service.

YouTube, MySpace and Google Video are in the top ten most frequently visited sites in the world, more popular than CNN.com, The New York Times, and Oprah! Over 100 billion videos are watched on YouTube alone every month!

Little Competition - Yet Popular

Online videos provide web site owners an entirely new marketing option. It is still relatively new and few companies use it to market their stores. You can still get in on the ground floor. Now is the time to learn how to take advantage of this new online marketing opportunity before your competition catches on.

The good news is that businesses do NOT have to spend a lot of money or time to put professional quality videos online. There are no costs to upload your videos online. There are also no costs for your videos to be viewed. The only real cost is video production, which can be done relatively inexpensively.

Plus, the BEST online videos have a ‘homemade feel' to them. You don't want a polished ‘featured film' look to them. Videos that look like Hollywood productions or slick Madison Avenue hype are not as effective online. The homemade look to the videos presents a ‘you can trust me' image.

YouTube is by far the biggest video hosting website out there, but it's not the ONLY place you want to post your videos. Currently there are over 60 different video websites where you can post your videos for free, and there are new ones starting all the time. The search engine results vary among the different video hosting sites. A video on one site will get higher results from one video host and yet another video may get the best results from a different video website.

There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason as to which one will get the best results and surprisingly Google doesn't always rank the YouTube video higher. So you need to post your videos on as many of them as you possibly can.

Creating a short video promoting your store is by far the best form of advertising that you can do today and one that will give you the greatest ROI. Professional looking videos can be easily made using inexpensive software like VlogIt from Adobe. In a few minutes you can take a group of pictures, create a slide show with background music, and begin to upload it to a video web host.

Since search engines are increasingly looking favorably on video, and since there is so little online video out there, it has created a great opportunity for local retail stores willing to do a little work to get a huge jump on their competition. Most local online video is buried within the listings of Internet yellow page sites that don't optimize the content effectively. Videos hosted on YouTube and other video hosting websites are easily outperforming any other type of online advertising.
