The Colored Stones eLearning course, which is part of the Institute’s Web-based Distance Education initiative announced in early 2009, is considered more robust than any eLearning course yet, with more than 1,000 videos, slide shows and animations.
The course gives sensory-rich, detailed information on gemstones of every variety and teaches students how to evaluate quality, rarity, and color. This learning platform lets students explore how gems form deep beneath the earth, tour working mines, and hear gem dealers, cutters and retailers from around the world discuss the colored stones market.
“GIA’s new Colored Stones course provides a vibrant learning experience never seen before in gemological education,” said Duncan Pay, GIA Course Development director.
GIA enhanced its Colored Stone eLearning course to include more interactive tools, animations, and exclusive videos, representing the ongoing collaboration of GIA researchers, educators, and graphic designers throughout the world, Pay said.
