Texas Jewelers Association announces 2014 Design Competition winners

Stephanie Budde - C. Kirk Root Designs, Austin, TX - has taken top honors in the 2014 Texas Jewelers Association (TJA) Design Competition and was named the Don Wilson “Best in Show” winner at the event, which took place during the TJA 2014 Convention. Budde’s winning creation, a  lavender zoisite, tanzanite and diamond pendant set in 14K rose gold and palladium, was also the 1st place winner in Category 3.

TJA Vice-President Brad Koen, who oversees the Design Contest stated: “Our 2014 Texas Jewelers Association Design Contest was extremely successful on all levels. This year, we saw the most entries ever into our contest, with a great variety of entrants, including lots of students, and both new and long-time members who submitted their pieces for participation. We also had the greatest turn-out ever as far as number of votes that were cast for the competition.”

Koen was also especially touched that the last piece the late Kirk Root of C. Kirk Root Designs (who passed away in January of 2014) ever worked on was chosen as the first place winner in its category.
