Show to deliver optimal buying time and location for the spring 2010 season

(NEW YORK) - JA New York and National Jeweler Network, have announced new dates for the 2010 JA New York Winter Show at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City. The Show will take place February 28 - March 2, 2010 (formerly held in January), thus providing ample time for the more than 8,000 expected retailers in attendance to assess post-holiday inventory and to more closely align with spring trends and events.

With more than 800 exhibitors expected, the JA New York Winter Show will feature a plethora of offerings for retailers including the renowned Couture Pavilion, the Designer Showcase, International Pavilions, Inner Circle and a spectacular array of special events to bring the industry together once again.

"As one of the major jewelry shows for the spring season, the 2010 Winter Show promises to attract remarkable jewelry professionals from around the world," commented Drew Lawsky, Group Show Director for JA New York. "The later 2010 show dates will provide the perfect time for exhibitors to introduce the latest trends and for retailers, it provides optimal buying conditions for bridal season, graduation, Mother's Day and Father's Day. The response from our exhibitors and attendees about both the timing and our showcase offerings has been very enthusiastic. Our goal, as always, is to provide the most advantageous meeting place and timing for the industry to conduct business - the JA New York Winter Show will be able to fulfill that goal."

"I think the later dates are more efficient for retailers," said Henry Feldman, President of Henry's Fine Jewelry in New Jersey. "Most retailers are tired from the December activities and with the later buying dates in the Spring season, we can get a better handle on what sold and analyze our inventory needs. I have attended the JA New York Shows for over 20 years. I will continue to return because it is a great resource for new jewelry and an opportunity to connect with my existing vendors."

The Winter Show provides exhibitors the opportunity to reveal their new collections, many for the first time, and to garner important feedback for the entire year. The Show hosts a wide spectrum of special events and pavilions that truly make it a "must-attend" event for all those who want the latest in jewelry designs.

"In January, the stores are still under the influence of the holiday season and have not even caught their breath yet. If they do not have a clear handle as to their inventory needs, they can be paralyzed and do nothing the first month after the New Year," said Joseph More, President of Elite Designs. "There are also many competing shows in the mid/late January timeframe. It's a congested and very competitive marketplace for everyone. I think the later JA New York Winter dates are great!"

JA New York has also worked closely with other industry trade events to find a date solution that best meets the needs of their respective exhibitor and buyer audiences. "We are all in this together. By moving our show up a week to avoid a date conflict, those vendors who traditionally participate in both shows will not have to worry about splitting samples or missing customers at either show," explains Carol Young, executive director, Southern Jewelry Travelers Association (SJTA), producers of the semi-annual Atlanta Jewelry Show. "The date shift also keeps us within the key buying window our jewelers need to restock their inventory for important sales periods. And, buyers can be assured that they'll still find the same great selection they've come to expect from both shows."

The variety of exhibitors from the Couture level to designers and manufacturers from around the globe is incredible and JA New York is the destination that meets any retailer's needs. Collections showcased in the International Pavilions in 2010 will span the world with participants from Italy, Thailand, Hong Kong, Brazil, Japan, Mexico and more. Jewelers of America education seminars will once again guide attendees through the latest techniques and trends, featuring leading industry experts and speakers, panel discussions and networking talks.

Another notable event returning to the JA New York Winter Show is America's Best Jeweler. This peer-to-peer program will give retailers access to the metrics and key business practices that translate into high achievement and success in the retail jewelry business. The America's Best Jeweler Retailer event will bring over 100 highly-qualified and distinguished retailers to the Show.
