The American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) is pleased to announce the return of GemJammin’ in conjunction with the 2011 AGTA GemFair™ Tucson. Back by popular demand, this open-to-all trade professionals music jam, is a benefit for Jewelers for Children. The event will be held at The Hut in Tucson on February 3, 2011, from 8 pm until the last lingering note fades in the early morning hours. Participation and attendance is open to all members of the gem, mineral and jewelry industries.
The very first GemJammin’ event was held in February 2009. More than 400 music lovers from around the world crammed into The Hut bar to attend and perform. Featuring an international assortment of gem and jewelry industry amateur musicians, the musical selections ranged from traditional blues and jazz numbers, to classic rock offerings, show tunes, traditional Indian love songs and even dueling didgeridoo players!
On February 3, 2011 GemJammin’ Tucson 2011 will once again offer the opportunity for jewelry industry musicians to take the stage, playing together in an un-rehearsed, and spontaneous musical evening.
In sponsoring this event, AGTA requested the original GemJammin’ organizers, Jack Malinowski and Marty Hurwitz to produce the event once again. Back by popular demand, Jack and Marty are putting their organizational and musical skills to making the 2011 rendition of this fantastic event a great evening for all. The AGTA is proud to be a catalyst in bringing this evening of music, dancing, and just plain hoot’n hollerin’ fun back to Tucson.
“The first time we ran this event, we netted nearly $4,000 for Jewelers for Children,” said Malinowski. “I’m sure we can top that this time. We expect more musicians and more fans to perform and attend,” he continued.
GemJammin’ Tucson 2011 is now actively seeking sponsors and musicians for early registration.
GemJammin’ Tucson 2011 will take place at The Hut, located in downtown Tucson at the corner of 4th avenue and 8th street. This location is central to all industry shows and hotels.
Jewelers For Children is active in many critical children’s programs such as Make-A-Wish Foundation®, Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation/Glaser Pediatric Research Network, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® and more.
