The Prime Jewelry Group held its highly acclaimed buying event on Sunday, August 29 and Monday, August 30 at the luxurious Ritz-Carlton Resorts in Naples, Florida. Indicating what may prove to be a turning point at the retail level, both the volume of sales recorded and the overall mood at the event was described as “enthusiastic.”
“This year’s Prime buying event at the Ritz Carlton, Naples was very successful, in terms of sales volume, buyer enthusiasm, attendance and member participation,” announced John Preziose, President of Prime Jewelry Group. “From the moment the sales floor opened it was obvious the retailers were there to work with our Prime members with intent to buy.”
The Prime Jewelry Group is intimate, and the services and perks are opulent. But what Prime does best is create a safe environment for retailers and suppliers to sit down and have serious discussions about how they can help each other to succeed.
“Many retailers have attended since Prime’s inception 9 years ago,” stated Carole Greenberg, Vice President Sales for Alwand Vahan and Secretary of Prime Jewelry Group. “They come expecting to be treated to a warm, welcoming and indulgent environment. They also know we only invite retailers who are of a certain caliber – it’s a privilege to be on the guest list. This year, retailers seemed more focused on buying than browsing. The ballroom was filled with excitement for the upcoming holiday season, and I’m certain vendor sales exceeded most members’ expectations.”
How do you top success? Next year the Prime Jewelry Group plans to move it’s event to September, a time that members and buyers both feel is optimum for buying – late enough in the season to understand fashion trends, and early enough for holiday delivery. Prime is also planning to grow in retailer attendance, which will require larger accommodations to support that growth.
Prime is always held at a “destination resort” and several new locations are under consideration for 2011. “We’ve been in Florida for a number of years, and all of the event locations have been exceptional, but it’s time to move to another locale – one that affords us an opportunity to expand,” states Preziose. “We’ll be making our decision for the 2011 site soon. As of now, all I can reveal is it’s going to be a world-class location that will have both our buyers and members excited about attending.”The Prime Jewelry Group events are produced and managed by the Southern Jewelry Travelers Association (SJTA), producers of the Atlanta Jewelry Show.
