Alabama & Georgia Jewelers Associations announce education line-up for 2011 Convention

For the third consecutive year, the states of Alabama and Georgia will join together to hold a joint Convention. The 2011 annual Convention will take place March 25 - 27 at Lakepoint State Park Resort in Eufaula, Alabama. The resort re-opened just over a year ago following a $12 million dollar renovation which includes a state-of-the-art convention facility overlooking beautiful Lake Eufaula.

The Alabama Jewelers Association and Georgia Jewelers Association Convention will be held at Lakepoint State Park Resort in Eufaula, Alabama.
The education line-up includes North Carolina retail jeweler Bill Warren, better known as “The Doctor of Dynamic Jewelry.”  After years of using the same old ideas for his store marketing with less than desirable results, Warren discovered the secrets to creating profitable store events and increasing store traffic that only the “best jewelers” know about.

Today, Warren continues to grow his business, and carves out time to share his knowledge and passion with fellow jewelers along the way.  Warren Marketing Systems is an innovative marketing company that teaches retailers how to un-lock new revenue streams.  These include proven techniques to gain new customers even during a challenged economy, creating ads and promotions that are hypnotic and magnetic to your customers, and low cost methods to bring “a flood of traffic (and profits) in your door.”

Also on the education program, Brad Huisken will lead participants through a fun and motivational seminar detailing powerful ways to maximize your traffic, sales, and profits with a program titled: “Create Your Own Stimulus Package Through Eliminating Lost Sales!”

In today’s retail environment, Huisken believes that when people come into a retail store, they are not necessarily looking for jewelry.  He believes the customer is looking for a place and a person from whom to buy products.

With the competition increasing from the mass merchandisers, other retailers, the Internet, catalogs, and other areas where customers can spend their disposable income, retailers today have to learn how to sell themselves and the store. “No longer can we sit back and wait for customers to come to us, we have to do something to get them to come back in repeatedly,” says Huisken.

In addition, Huisken will detail topics such as, how salespeople can help “brand” the store, telephone clienteling, three responsibilities of a salesperson, handling objections, company stories, and customer follow-up, along with analyzing lost sales. He will discuss the five benchmarks for productivity improvement in addition to detailing non-negotiable sales and customer service standards, and training techniques. “The main responsibility of a sales manager is to give his/her people the help, training, and guidance that they need in order to achieve success. Only through the consistent application of sound business principles, can we achieve increased productivity both now and well into the future.”

Georgia Jewelers president John Reed, owner of JWR Jewelers in Athens, GA hopes that jewelers from Georgia and Alabama as well as surrounding states will make Lake Eufaula their spring break destination. “Our two states have had great chemistry coming together for our annual Convention. We have been able to network with jewelers outside our geographical territory and visit destinations (like Sandestin, Florida in 2010) that as a single state we probably would not have held a Convention at.”

Also during the Convention both Alabama and Georgia Jewelers Associations host a jewelry design competition. The annual design competition and awards will take place on Sunday, March 27. All association members and their employees are invited to submit original designs in a variety of categories.

Both Alabama and Georgia state associations are actively seeking sponsors for the annual event. Companies, service providers and individuals are all welcome to sponsor the event with a variety of sponsorship levels available from each state. In addition, the state of Alabama will produce a Convention yearbook with advertising opportunities available.
