NCJA/SCJA Convention slated for May 13-15

Wild times are ahead for North and South Carolina jewelers at their Convention, May 13-15 and both NCJA and SCJA are excited to return to the Marriott Grande Dunes in Myrtle Beach.

The North Carolina Jewelers Association and the South Carolina Jewelers Association are together again for their 5th year of fun in the sun.  The weekend will be a mix of business, education and visiting with industry friends.

The beautiful, luxurious Grande Dunes Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina will be the home of the 2011 NCJA/SCJA Convention May 13-15.
This year Saturday morning seminars include Brad Huisken of IAS Training presenting, “We Can’t Wait for Customers, Go Get Them!” and Doug Johnson of Gemvision speaking on Countersketch Studio. Sunday morning Roundtable topics are Social Networking, Health Care Reform for Small Business and Best Selling Lines.

Bulova is the Platinum sponsor of the NCJA-SCJA annual golf tournament.  Grande Dunes is an 18 hole, par 72 course, featuring spectacular scenery and 7,618 yards, making it one of the East Coast’s longest courses.  Prizes will be awarded for Winning Team, Closest to the Pin, and Longest Drive.

Not a golfer?  No problem.  There is a European spa, large beach front pool, tennis, fitness center and miles of beach to explore.  Other area attractions feature Carolina Opry, Brookgreen Gardens, an Aquarium and shopping.

The Grand Prize of the weekend will be given to the Best Dressed at the Saturday Evening Gala.  Safari or animal print attire is requested!  Do not pass up this opportunity to show off your wild side!  Make-A-Wish Foundation is the 2011 charity selected for the Saturday evening fundraising efforts.  If you would like to donate to the weekend’s event, please contact the NCJA or SCJA offices.

Carolyn Woltz Lennon of Simon Golub attended last year and said, “It was a great weekend at the beautiful Marriott in Myrtle Beach. We all know that we are in a relationship business so it only makes sense to spend time together so we can grow together. And what a great place to do it. I am so glad that I did!”

Sponsors of the event at the Silver Level or higher may exhibit in Saturday’s Discovery Room.  Sponsorship information can be found at or by calling the NCJA or SCJA offices.

Both states’ design competitions will be judged and announced during the weekend. All association members are invited to submit original designs in a variety of categories.

The entire weekend is a terrific opportunity to get away in a casual, relaxed setting and exchange ideas with other jewelers.  To find out more about the Convention, design competitions or inquire about sponsorship, contact each state’s executive director, Suzi Bevacqua ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
