Never-before-seen jewelry featured at Jewelry Information Center’s Annual Fine Jewelry Preview & Luncheon
(NEW YORK) - With Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week quickly approaching, Jewelry Information Center (JIC) – the consumer education arm of Jewelers of America (JA) – unveiled its top jewelry picks for 2012, comprised of more than 120 pieces, at its Annual Fine Jewelry Preview and Luncheon on August 24, in New York. The event was held in conjunction with partners American Gem Trade Association, Cultured Pearl Association of America, Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company, Platinum Guild International USA and World Gold Council.
Leading fashion and accessories editors and stylists from magazines like Brides, InStyle and Lucky perused the selections, while enjoying tapas and cocktails from At Vermilion restaurant. Each year, JIC hosts top accessories and jewelry editors to stimulate fine jewelry and watch editorial coverage.Of the jewelry trends featured, the stand-outs were: blackened sterling silver; Baroque cultured pearls; high-karat, and much talked about, gold jewelry; richly saturated colored gemstones; and entry platinum.
“As the jewelry industry continues to synthesize with the fashion industry, holding JIC’s Annual Fine Jewelry Preview in close proximity to Fashion Week was perfectly timed to provide jewelry trend inspiration for high-fashion editors and trendsetters as well as inspiration for consumers thinking about how to accessorize,” says Helena Krodel, Jewelers of America Director of Media and Special Events.
Other highlights of the day included jewelry cleaning by Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company, which offered to clean guests’ baubles while educating them on caring, cleaning and insuring fine jewelry. Guests also received goodie bags with Jane Basch necklaces and Laura Lobdell bracelets inside.
