AGS expands the Conclave Tech Center

(LAS VEGAS) - One of the cornerstones of the American Gem Society’s (AGS) Conclave year after year has been the Tech Center, a mission control for disseminating information about AGS research and development. This year, the Society has expanded the Tech Center’s format, with a little help from AGS Labs (AGSL).

The Lab’s own Peter Yantzer, CG, Alethea Inns, CG, and Jason Quick from AGSL’s Research & Development department, will be front and center to share their knowledge and expertise on diamond light performance, diamond grading, and the latest technology provided by the AGS and from around the industry.

A featured guest in the Tech Center will be Dr. Jose Sasian, a professor at the University of Arizona, College of Optical Sciences, and an expert in the light performance of diamonds. Dr. Sasian was instrumental in helping the AGS Labs research and development team develop the AGS Light Performance Cut Grade.

Another featured guest of the Tech Center will be Philip Van Emmenis, a preeminent diamond cutter who is also an expert on the AGS Cut Grading System. Philip will be giving diamond cutting demonstrations and answering questions about diamond cutting techniques.

Sarin Diamond Technologies is sponsoring the Tech Center, and will have professionals on hand to discuss the latest in diamond technology.

“Some of the most knowledgeable experts on diamonds in the world will be assembled in the AGS Tech Center,” says Ruth Batson, CEO of the American Gem Society and AGS Labs. “The tools we are providing our jewelers and the hands on learning experience they will receive will provide added skills they can take back to their store to help them sell more diamonds. We are helping them learn techniques and power tips, taught by some of the industry’s top experts that they cannot get anywhere else in the industry.”

Other features of the Tech Center include demonstrations of the AGS Angular Spectrum Evaluation Technology (ASET) and Performance Grading Software, understanding diamond cutting guideline charts, recutting recommendations, AGS course material and demonstrations of AGS Labs’ new Visual Proportion Analysis Software.

The American Gem Society, founded in 1934 by Robert M. Shipley, is a not-for-profit trade association dedicated to proven ethics, knowledge, and consumer protection within the jewelry industry.
