In an almost unheard of run of success, Walters Jewelry Company celebrates 60 years of delivering quality work/repairs to its retailer customers. As a long-standing, industry trade shop, Larry Pulliam, owner and second generation operator of the company, is proud of the heritage his father, Ralph, left for him and his siblings.
“My dad went to work in a jewelry store right after he returned from the war,” recalls Pulliam. “Ten years later, in 1953, he bought the store from its original owner and, today, my brother and I operate out of that same store.”
Built on hard work, integrity, expertise and a “wicked-fast” turn around, Walters Jewelry Company boasts retail customers throughout the Southeast.
They specialize in sizing, general repair, stone replacement, assembly work, and joint work with tremendous experience behind their repair skill. Larry took a seat at the bench for the first time when he was 14 and, between his brother Tommy and Walter’s other jeweler, the men boast more than 80 years combined experience. When working on tennis bracelets, half shanks, re-tipping and re-setting of stones, Larry is quick to tell you that there’s not much he and his brother haven’t seen.
“This industry has been good to us and our family’s been in it for a long time. I’ve had two older brothers who worked with us until they deceased and my sister was with us until her family moved out of state. Even my aunt helped by handling the accounting when my dad ran the store. I get the dynamics of running a family business.”
