The recent JIS April 2013 Miami Beach Jewelry Show was “one of, if not the most successful Spring jewelry buying events JIS has ever produced,” said Jewelers International Showcase (JIS) president and CEO Michael Breslow. JIS reported a solid 10% increase in buyer attendance hailing almost entirely from Latin America and Florida.
On opening day a large number of buyers lined up early and snaked through the lobby. Buyers were eager to start their purchasing for the upcoming and incredibly important Mother’s Day retail season and to restock after Valentine’s Day.
Most retail jewelers in Latin America and other heavily Latin based communities typically refer to Mother’s Day as the second Christmas, because their stores are inundated with new and reoccurring retail sales for jewelry across the full range of price points for this holiday.
As the show closed each day there were still great numbers of buyers on the show floor making purchases. “Many stayed for over an hour after the doors closed,” said Breslow.
At the end of the first day, fine jewelry designer, Patricia Robalino of Patricia Robalino Designs stated, “This was the best opening day we have ever had at the JIS April Show! We didn’t have a chance to rest all day!”
A veteran JIS exhibitor, Zsa Zsa Jewels, reported that this JIS April 2013 Show, “was our best JIS Show to date!” And he promptly requested to double their booth size next year.
In the months leading up to this Spring Show, buyer pre-registration was “on fire,” with buyers registering from Miami to Mexico to Brazil and beyond. This significant increase in registering buyers and the highly lucrative niche market that JIS provides triggered over 50 new exhibiting companies. These companies join the well-established 300+ booths of current exhibitors at the JIS April 2013 Show.
“With the JIS Spring Show now behind us, our focus turns to the world famous JIS October 3-6, 2013 Miami Beach Show. Space is already becoming limited and buyer pre-registration is on track to quickly surpass last year’s record attendance,” Breslow stated. “The best time for exhibitors to book their booth space is now, before they are gone!”
