(ATLANTA) - The AJS University schedule for the August 9-11 Atlanta Jewelry Show invites jewelers to rediscover their retail passion and new avenues for business growth. Offering a full roster of programs touching on everything from visual merchandising and Black Friday event marketing to social media, CAM technology, holiday trends and security tips, the August show educational offerings promise to arm retailers with fresh new ideas and practical strategies to make the most of the all-important third and fourth quarter selling season.

In addition to the full AJS U educational schedule, the August Atlanta Jewelry show will offer additional idea-sharing and learning opportunities, including:

As part of its ongoing efforts to expand educational resources and opportunities for attendees, the Atlanta Jewelry Show will once again sponsor and bring a hands-on grading lab class to attendees that is required for GIA GG and Graduate Diamond Diplomas. Attendees will spend more than 18 hours practicing grading techniques of diamonds that were carefully selected and graded in the GIA Laboratory. In the process, GIA will teach attendees to recognize the most common diamond features.

When a customer comes into a jewelry store today, they are not looking for jewelry. They are looking instead, for a place and a person from whom to buy jewelry. During this fun and motivational session, Brad will discuss what customers are thinking when they enter your jewelry store for the first time, including their subconscious thoughts. Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) have revolutionized jewelry making. CAD-CAM has also made custom-designed jewelry an achievable reality for jewelers. While many retailers now understand CAD, an explosive amount of innovation in CAM technology - especially 3-D printing - is now making it possible to “grow” jewelry models faster and more creatively. Get an update on the latest developments, explained simply. Even if a retailer decides against in-store use of CAM machines, the store’s management and bench jewelers should have an understanding of how these technologies are transforming the making of jewelry.
