Alabama & Georgia jewelers return to Marriott Grand National April 1-3

AJA MarchThe state associations of Alabama and Georgia invite all retail jewelers and suppliers to the 2016 annual co-hosted convention at Marriott’s Grand National Resort & Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Opelika, Alabama. “Our attendees had a great experience in Opelika last year, and requested a return. We hope more jewelers from Alabama and Georgia join us in April because this type of event and quality education doesn’t come close-to-home very often,” said Danny Clarke, President, Alabama Jewelers Association.

2016 MJSA Expo seminars to explore jewelry making and design trends, techniques

(ATTLEBORO, Mass.) - An exploration into the future of jewelry design and manufacturing - from advancements in 3-D printing to designing in the “cloud” - will kick off the seminar program of the 2016 MJSA Expo, which will run March 13-15 at the Javits Center in New York City.

The program will also feature sessions on freehand sketching, tracking digital advertising, and explaining and promoting the craft of custom design, along with a live “At the Bench” demonstration of setting side stones. In addition, the popular Jewelry Making 101 series (which presents basic bench techniques in a clear, entertaining way) will return with Joel McFadden of Joel McFadden Designs in Red Bank, New Jersey, who will demonstrate methods for setting both bezels and channels.

New NAWCC course – “Luxury or Lie?” slated for May

(COLUMBIA, Pa.) - The National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors (NAWCC) has reported their new educational course, “Luxury or Lie? How to Identify Genuine from Fake Watches”, was a resounding success. The course, held the first week of October at the NAWCC campus in Columbia, PA, was designed and developed by instructor Adam Harris. The course included an overview of watch types, terminology, and techniques to differentiate counterfeited or reworked luxury timepieces from genuine.

Jewelers for Children announces 2016 Rings of Strength Tour

Jewelers for Children (JFC) will hold the fourth installment of the very popular Rings of Strength on Thursday, June 2 in Las Vegas. Start time will be at 5:30 a.m. outside the tour bus entrance at the Mandalay Bay Resort Casino. Participants will be able to choose between a 5K walk or run, a 50K challenging bike ride in the foothills of Red Rock Canyon or a shorter 15K route.

To date, the event has raised over $180,000 to help children in need.

Midwest Jewelers Conference & Show - A new show with a history


Jones FebThe 2016 Midwest Jewelers Conference & Show (MJC) is the “new” Jewelers Educational Conference, a regional jewelry conference and show that has been held biannually in suburban Kansas City, Missouri for 16 years. The name change, along with a move to Kansas City’s downtown Power & Light Entertainment District, was made to accentuate a restructured agenda that eliminates “slow time” for vendor-sponsors, and consolidates educational and social time for jewelers and their families. The entertainment district location also offers multiple dining and entertainment venues that are ideal for entertaining family or customers.
