Steady traffic, new business, industry design awards/events keep show-goers talking

(ATLANTA) - Busy aisles.. steady order-writing.. standing-room-only seminars.. must attend events... jewelry design competitions... The Atlanta Jewelry Show gave buyers and exhibitors plenty to talk about during the March 5-7, 2011 run. With attendance figures tracking evenly with the strong 2010 spring edition, exhibitor feedback from the show floor included reports of steady traffic, order-writing and new business.

The Original Miami Beach Antique Show celebrates 50th anniversary at February event

(MIAMI) - US Antique Shows reported brisk sales from local and international collectors and dealers alike at the 50th Anniversary of The Original Miami Beach Antique Show, which took place February 3-7, 2011 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. As the largest indoor antique show in the world, the show has become known for its vast variety of spectacular antiques, international attendees and dealers spanning all regions of the globe.

AGTA reports increased attendance and buying activity at GemFair Tucson

(DALLAS) - Buyers flocked to the annual American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) GemFair™ Tucson to source gemstones and pearls, learn about new trends and network at nightly events.  AGTA reported an increase in buyer attendance despite weather issues nationwide affecting travel to the event.  Buyer attendance was up 5% over 2010, building on a 7% increase from the previous year.

Midwest Pawnbrokers Conference moves to Chicago area in 2011

The 20th Annual Midwest Pawnbrokers Conference & Convention will be held on May 13-15, 2011 at the Westin Hotel Chicago Northwest in Itasca, Illinois. This annual event moves around the Midwest each year giving pawnbrokers, future pawnbrokers, and like businesses an opportunity to learn about the pawn industry.

GIA’s Symposium 2011: Advancing the Science and Business of Gems

(CARLSBAD, Calif.) – The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) announced it will host Symposium 2011: Advancing the Science and Business of Gems, May 29-30, 2011 at its world headquarters in Carlsbad.

This event will also commemorate the 80th anniversary of GIA, which celebrates the Institute’s history and future of serving the public and trade through research, education, gemological laboratory services and instrument development.
