(NEENAH, Wis.) - Before recently adjourning its May 2011 quarterly meeting, the Board of Directors of Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company promoted Carol P. Sanders to the position of senior vice president. In addition to assuming this leadership position in the organization, Sanders will continue to serve as chief financial officer and corporate treasurer, roles she has held since joining the company in 2004.
“I had the pleasure of recommending this advancement of Carol’s position as a way to better reflect the extraordinary breadth of her involvement in our corporate operations and the strategic importance of her role,” said Darwin Copeman, Jewelers Mutual president and CEO. “The Board enthusiastically embraced my recommendation.”
In addition to overseeing Jewelers Mutual’s finances, Sanders leads the company’s project management, product management, business planning, business analysis, and facilities management functions.
“As our new senior vice president, Carol will also provide an exceedingly valuable service to the organization as a strategic planner and visionary,” Copeman said.
As chief financial officer, Sanders has responsibly managed the organization’s finances to satisfy the requirements of AM Best’s “A+ Superior” rating, which the company has now earned for 24 consecutive years. Today she is part of a leadership team that is embarking on systemic upgrades to the organization’s IT infrastructure and policy-administration system. “With Carol’s leadership, we’ve launched into this ambitious program with an expectation that we can continue to uphold our A+ Superior rating, even with this significant investment in our operational infrastructure,” Copeman said.
Before joining Jewelers Mutual in 2004, Sanders was assistant treasurer and controller at Sentry Insurance in Stevens Point, Wis. Her career also included roles as vice president and treasurer at American Medical Security, Inc. in Green Bay, Wis., and treasurer and director of taxation at Secura Insurance in Appleton, Wis.
Sanders sits on the board of directors of Alliant Energy and chairs its Audit Committee. She holds designations as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Financial Manager (CFM), and Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU).
