SCJA’s Jane Spencer retires

The South will never be the same....

South Carolina Jewelers Association’s (SCJA) Executive Director, Jane Spencer, is retiring from the daily rigors of association management and moving into the position of Treasurer for the Board.  It is hard to imagine SCJA without her.

Jane and her husband, Jack, moved to South Carolina from Kentucky where they owned a retail jewelry store.  Jack began a career in jewelry sales with Bulova Watches and was transferred with the company to South Carolina.  Jane started her new life in the state managing the association 28 years ago.  Scores of store owners have gotten to know and love her during her tenure serving the jewelers of the Palmetto State.

Jane speaks fondly about her jewelry family.  When asked for favorite stories, she declined to name names and tell tales.  She did not want to embarrass anyone sharing anything without permission.  She just left it delicately that jewelers enjoyed themselves.

Jane will be attending the SCJA/NCJA Convention May 18-20th, and the SCJA hopes all who know and adore her will attend to wish her well and in grateful appreciation for her years of unwavering service to the industry.

The daily duties of the association will be assumed by Suzi Bevacqua, who also manages the North Carolina Jewelers Association.  Suzi and Jane have forged a friendship, having worked together for the last five years on joint conventions and having numerous meetings together through SJTA, EJTA, and Jewelers of America since 1997.

If you would like to send a note to Jane Spencer, please write to her at 113 Park Shore Drive East, Columbia, SC 29223.  For more information please contact SCJA at 919-789-7979 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
