IGI - North & South America attains 3-year RJC re-certification, 10-year ISO re-accreditation

(NEW YORK) - IGI – North & South America continues to embrace the importance of maintaining credibility and high industry standards through submission to independent external audits. The Institute recently announced it has achieved re-certification by the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), as well as re-accreditation by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for ISO 9001:2008 quality management systems.

Three-year RJC re-certification signifies the Institute’s sustained adherence to the highest ethical, social and environmental standards. The Council has more than 500 member companies that span the jewelry supply chain from mine to retail. These members are independently audited against the RJC Codes of Practices that address human rights, labor rights, environmental impact, mining practices, product disclosure and other important topics in the jewelry supply chain.

IGI – North & South America has maintained ISO accreditation consecutively for 10 years. ISO 9001:2008 specifies requirements for a quality management system where an organization needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide product/service that meets customer and applicable regulatory requirements, and aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for continual improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable regulatory requirements. ISO is a network of national standards institutes from more than 150 countries working in partnership with international organizations, governments, industry, business and consumer representatives to more directly link business objectives with business effectiveness.
