Eight ‘Rising Star’ designers debut at Las Vegas Show

(NORWALK, Conn.) - The Design Center at JCK Las Vegas announced its Top 50 retailer choices for 2010/2011 at the fifth annual JCK Designer Retailer Awards ceremony held recently. The recipient of the top JCK Events Designer Retailer Award is DBS Jewelers, St. Michaels, MD.

DBS Jewelers has been in business for over 20 years and offers custom jewelry fabrication and exclusive collections from internationally recognized designers.

The JCK Designer Retailer Awards recognized the Top 50 retailers based on the following three criteria: educating the consumer on the quality and value of designer jewelry; displaying and merchandising designer products for maximum salability; and commitment to fair business practices.

“Innovation, creativity and fresh design are what motivate consumers into purchasing jewelry,” noted Yancy Weinrich, Industry Vice President, JCK Events. “The retailers who are recognized by the exhibitors in the Design Center are particularly attuned to and passionate about presenting, merchandising and selling designer jewelry. To be nominated as a Designer Retailer is quite an honor for these retailers.”

The remainder of the Top 5 Retail Designers earning recognition: Lily & Co., Sanibel, FL; Manika, San Francisco, CA; Reinhold, San Juan, PR; Worthmore Jewelers, Atlanta, GA.

The Top 10 Designer Retailers that received honors included: Sausalito Jewelers, Sausalito, CA; Gallery of Jewels, San Francisco, CA; Chardé Jewelers, Houston, TX; Clarkes Jewelers, Shreveport, LA; Lacy & Co., El Paso, TX.

JCK Design Center also honored eight “Rising Star” designers whose work in jewelry made their national trade show debut at JCK Las Vegas this year: Laura Alexander; Katie Decker; Lauren Noelle Fiabane (Noelle Leone); Ellen Himic; Vanessa Leu (Vanessa Leu, LLC); Jolee Mickesh (Jewelry by Jolee, LLC); Chris Ploof and Michele Scholnick (Branch).

The Design Center at JCK offers a platform to showcase those new designers that have been selected by a jury of industry members.

“Selecting the Rising Stars is a difficult process,” says Weinrich, “because there is so much talent. We are proud to say that many of our previous winners have gone on to achieve great success in the marketplace.”
