JA announces winners of National Retailer Design Competition

(NEW YORK) - Jewelers of America (JA), the national trade association for businesses serving the fine jewelry marketplace, held its annual national retailer design competition at the JA New York Winter Show, January 18-20. The CASE Awards recognizes JA Retail Members who exhibit creativity, artistry, style and excellence in jewelry design. Many of the winning pieces of the 2015 CASE Awards were hand fabricated with intricate designs that reflected current trends such as mixed metals, nature-themed elements and fancy cut stones.

AGTA announces Board of Directors election results

(DALLAS) - The American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) announced the results of it’s annual AGTA Board of Directors election. Bruce Bridges, of Bridges Tsavorite, and Jeffrey Bilgore, of Jeffrey Bilgore, LLC, were both re-elected to the Board; and Charles Carmona, Guild Laboratories, and Robert Van Wagoner, Beija-Flor, were newly-elected. The Directors-elect will take office February 2015, and will serve three-year terms.

Texas Institute of Jewelry Technology holds awards ceremony

An awards and recognition ceremony was recently held for students attending Paris Junior College’s (PJC) Texas Institute of Jewelry Technology (TIJT).

Each semester the TIJT Student Association holds a design contest consisting of several categories. Winning students included Erica Smith in Rendering, Sarah Helluin in Wax Carving, Caroline Brady in CAD Rendering, Tyler Neves in both Metal Arts and Steam Punk, Angelica Guevara in Lapidary, Jon-David Wiley in Restoration, and Jory Wall in Finished Pieces and as overall winner.
