Donna Baker resigns as President and CEO of GIA

(CARLSBAD, Calif.) – The GIA (Gemological Institute of America) Board of Governors has announced that due to differing views on the direction of GIA, Donna M. Baker has resigned as President and CEO of the Institute. At the request of the Board of Governors, board chair Susan M. Jacques, President and CEO of Borsheims Fine Jewelry and Gifts, will be interim President and CEO while the board conducts a search for a new executive.

Rio Grande announces 13th annual Saul Bell Design Award winners

Rio Grande announced the winners of the 13th annual Saul Bell Design Award competition at a celebration dinner held on June 1 during JCK Las Vegas. After several months of judging, hundreds of entries were narrowed to one grand prize winner and eleven category winners. More than $30,000 in prizes and awards was presented at the gala dinner. Richline Group to acquire HONORA

NC Jewelry Studio shines with three new national design awards

The creative team at Spectrum Art & Jewelry (Wilmington, NC) has done it again.  In the first quarter of 2013 they have been recognized with three national awards for outstanding original jewelry design, including one from the Palladium Alliance International and two MJSA Vision Awards.  These bring Spectrum’s jewelry team tally to a total of eleven career national awards to date.

Lora Wright elected President of NCJA
