JIC announces winners of Gems Among Us Contest

(NEW YORK) – Jewelry Information Center (JIC), the consumer education arm of Jewelers of America (JA), has announced the winners of its Gems Among Us Contest, the nationwide essay contest that recognizes the individuals who make our world a better place. Carlene Sperry of Maine, a seven-year breast cancer survivor and advocate, has been chosen as the grand-prize “Gem Among Us” by America’s vote. Nearly 10,000 votes were cast for the 10 finalists during the voting period, which took place from November 1st through November 22, 2010, at www.JIC.org/gemcontest.

WJA honors Shining Star Award recipients

The Women’s Jewelry Association (WJA) has honored 12 recipients with its 2011 Shining Star Award, which recognizes WJA members’ service, passion, and commitment to their local chapters across the country. The awards were presented during WJA’s Women in the Know Conference on Thurs., January 6 at the McGraw Hill Building, 1221 6th Avenue @ 49th Street in New York City.

MJSA announces 2010 Thinking Ahead Award winners

(ATTLEBORO FALLS, Mass.) - MJSA, the U.S. trade association for jewelry makers, designers, and related suppliers, announces two new products have earned MJSA Thinking Ahead Awards for 2010: CounterSketch Studio, a collaboration between Gemvision and Stuller, Inc., and the Neo Five Axis Mill, created by Artisan CNC.
