Grogan Jewelers named Alabama Gold Retailer of the Year

(BIRMINGHAM, Ala.) – The Alabama Retail Association (ARA), in cooperation with the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Business, recently recognized 18 outstanding Alabama retailers representing 13 retail businesses with operations in 29 Alabama cities and 16 states as “Retailers of the Year.” 

Jay Klos, president and owner of Grogan Jewelers (groganjewelers.com), which has stores in Huntsville and Florence, earned the Gold Retailer of the Year Award in the Annual Sales $1 Million to $5 Million category. Grogan Jewelers has been in business for 97 years and employs 19.

Stebgo Metals announces new hire

Tom Madar, a veteran sales and marketing professional in the fine jewelry industry, joined Stebgo Metals in July. Stebgo Metals has been a trusted full service refiner since 1978 and expects Madar, with over 30 years of experience in the fine jewelry industry, will add a great deal to the organization as their first outside sales representative.

Martin Fuller named NAJA National Secretary

The National Association of Jewelry Appraisers (NAJA) is pleased to announce that Mr. Martin D. Fuller, GG, Certified Senior Member, has been named NAJA’s National Secretary.  Martin ably replaces the position held by Howard Rubin, NAJA’s National Secretary, who passed away earlier this year.

Mr. Fuller’s primary responsibility will be to represent NAJA at the Appraisal Foundation and the Industry Advisory Council.  He will be attending all meetings and serve in an advisory capacity on other Appraisal Foundation committees, as needed.  Secondary responsibilities will be to assist the Executive Director in course development, conference proceedings and other administrative functions.

Ostbye named RJO 2012 Vendor of the Year

(MINNEAPOLIS) - Ostbye has been named the Retail Jewelers Organization (RJO) 2012 Vendor of the Year for Finished Goods in recognition of their exceptional sales, service and support.  Ostbye has previously won the award in 2011, 2010, 2008 and 2007. Ostbye was presented with the award at the recent RJO Show in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

2012 Circle of Distinction Dinner hosted best-of industry notables

(LAS VEGAS) –The American Gem Society (AGS) recently celebrated its 2012 Circle of Distinction Dinner at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. The Society honored The Bridge Family of Ben Bridge Jeweler with the Lifetime Achievement Award. The Society also honored Rob Bates, Senior Editor of JCK Magazine, and Mark Moeller, CGA, owner of R.F. Moeller Jeweler with the Triple Zero Awards.
