Independent jewelers throughout the country are finding in-store restyling events to be highly successful in spite of the high price of gold. Joe Hershon, the owner of Davriel Promotions explains why: “The largest percentage of the population right now are baby boomers 55 and older who are inheriting jewelry from their mothers, have outdated or worn out jewelry of their own, or who want to change from yellow to white gold (or vice versa). They have more disposable income than their parents generation, and are spending more for vintage semi mounts or high fashion designs. The average remount sale is now $1800, so ten or eleven sales quickly becomes a $20,000 event.”
In store special events generate excitement and additional sales for the independent jeweler.
