Joseph M. “Joe” Pinson died on February 26, 2010 in Blue Ridge, Georgia due to complications from ALS/Lou Gehrig’s disease. He was 56. Joe, the son of George and Rachel Pinson, was born on September 7, 1953 in Augusta, Georgia.

An active participant in the jewelry industry, Joe was formerly the president of Atlanta-based Downs Safe and Lock Company, he served on the board of directors of the Southern Jewelry Travelers Association for many years, was a former member of the 24 Karat Club Southeastern United States and was a strong supporter of many state jewelers associations throughout the southeast. He was a member of Peachtree Presbyterian Church.
