Artist donates paintings to benefit Jewelers for Children

JFCNoted jewelry designer and artist Reena Ahluwalia has donated two original, museum quality paintings to be auctioned at the Jewelers for Children (JFC) Facets of Hope event in Las Vegas. The paintings, Portal of Empowerment and Brilliance Pink Diamond, show highly nuanced, hyper-realistic diamonds with ultra-magnified facets.

On April 27 the Remote Transactions Parity Act (RTPA) was reintroduced in the U.S. House of Representatives, while the Senate re-introduced the Marketplace Fairness Act (MFA).

Tiffany loses appeal on $450M Swatch ruling

RAPAPORT... A Dutch court upheld a 2013 ruling ordering Tiffany & Co. to pay Swatch Group $450 million (CHF 402.7 million) in damages from their failed joint watch venture, Tiffany reported. 

The two companies established a partnership in December 2007 to produce and market watches under the Tiffanybrand, but the deal ended in a bitter and expensive court battle. Swatch sued Tiffany in December 2011 for breach of contract, prompting Tiffany to countersue a few months later. Swatch ultimately won the arbitration before a panel of judges in December 2013.

AKRON, Ohio -- It took less than fifteen seconds. Three men stormed into an Akron jewelry store, shot an employee and got away with expensive watches.

Surveillance cameras captured the moment three men burst into Sam's Jewelry Emporium on East Exchange Street in Akron just before 8:00 p.m. last Thursday.

One man was waving a gun, another broke the front case with an ax.

They stole tens of thousands of dollars worth of high-end Swiss watches before the gunman fired a shot and they ran out of the store twelve seconds later.

Veteran South Carolina jeweler dies at 75

Bill Roof 1941 - 2017 

Roof MayWilliam “Bill” Roof passed away suddenly on March 10, 2017 in Columbia, SC.  Roof was the second generation owner of Roof Jewelers, which was founded in 1943.

Bill was a self-taught watchmaker and jeweler with a natural gift for sales. He never met a stranger and would say with a smile “never mind what they want - sell ‘em what you’ve got.” Bill is survived by Pat, his wife of 56 years along with sons William and Patrick, (third generation owners) their wives and six grandchildren.
