Moret Time collaborates with Gems One on USMC timepieces

(NEW YORK) - Moret Time, a New York-based watch firm is slated to launch a collection of timepieces through Gems One for Holiday 2012. In a special licensing arrangement with The United States Marine Corps (USMC), Moret Time designs, develops and manufactures watches under the famed Armed Forces brand. Gems One has recently established a strategic partnership with Moret Time to be the exclusive distributor throughout the fine jewelry industry, and all of the watches distributed through Gems One are designed exclusively for their independent retail jeweler customers.

“Having worked in the jewelry industry for over a decade, I am aware of the concerns most independent jewelers have with the watch business,” said Morris Chabbott, 4th generation jeweler and managing director of Moret Time. “Having a well known brand coupled with the aspect of exclusivity to the independent retail jeweler, we feel that we have filled a major void for Gems One’s retail partners. Jewelers who sell the line will have no competition from chain stores, shopping networks or the Internet as all of the watches sold are exclusive through the independent channel.”

George Prout, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Gems One, concurred: “You don’t buy into a brand, you join a brand. This opportunity enables consumers who shop in our customers’ stores to join the most powerful and exclusive warrior brand since the Spartans.”

US Marine Corps watches will range between $195 and $395 at retail giving retailers a 2.2x margin. The collection was unveiled at the Smart Jewelry Show in Chicago to an overwhelmingly positive response. One jeweler commented, “Which other brand can we carry that has an advertising budget like the Marines of $160 million annually, it’s staggering!”

The US Marine Corps watches are sold through Gems One with an opening order of $1500 for 12 pieces including an in counter display unit. Co-op advertising and marketing materials will also be available for use by the retail jeweler, as well as a national dealer-tagged magazine program.

The United States Marine Corps watches will be shown at JCK Las Vegas June 1 - 4, 2012 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center Booth LUX700.
